Description
A Dance in Every Arch
Mayur Mahal is inspired by a scene that India has loved for centuries: a peacock opening its feathers beneath a palace arch.
In the palaces and havelis of Rajasthan, arched niches framed painted peacocks on walls, ceilings and miniature paintings. The peacock is India’s national bird, a symbol of beauty, grace and the joy of the monsoon, and in Indian tradition it is also linked with Lord Krishna, whose crown carries a peacock feather.
This showpiece is not a copy of any one palace or painting. It is a hand-made interpretation, built from carved arches, freehand peacocks and delicate floral borders, made slowly by a team of artisans who treat every piece as a one-off.
“A palace is remembered not for its walls, but for the beauty that dances within them.”
Crafted with Arch & Feather
Every surface of Mayur Mahal has been carved, painted or detailed by hand. Here is what to look for.
The Peacock Arch
A carved palace arch, outlined in gold tone and washed in fresh green, frames a peacock with its tail fully fanned, with a pair of blue peacocks standing at its base.
Gold-Traced Niches
Raised, arched niches run around the body, each traced in gold tone, like the windows and alcoves of a Rajasthani haveli.
Floral Borders
Pink and red blossoms, green leafy vines and a wavy pink border are drawn freehand, in the spirit of Indian miniature painting.
The Dome Lid
The lid is painted with a ring of lotus-petal motifs in yellow, red and green, finished with a hand-textured knob that echoes a tiled palace dome.
Made to Be Displayed
Mayur Mahal is a pure display showpiece. Its ivory-cream finish and butter-yellow interior have been considered as carefully as its outside, so it looks complete from every angle.
3 to 4 Months
& 8 to 10 Artisans
This is not a standard design and it was never made on a production line. Each stage is done by hand, and each stage waits for the one before it to settle, which is why one piece takes months rather than days.
