Description
A Palace Seen Through Its Windows
Kesar Mahal is inspired by the jharokha, the carved, canopied window that gives Rajasthan’s palaces and forts their unmistakable face.
In Jaipur, the tiered, honeycomb-like windows of the Hawa Mahal are among the best-known examples. Its colour is just as telling: kesariya, the saffron-orange that Indians associate with sunrise, courage and auspicious beginnings, and with the proud heritage of Rajput Rajasthan.
This showpiece is not a copy of any one building. It is a hand-made interpretation, built from rows of carved jharokhas, gold-tone detailing and a deep saffron-orange finish, made slowly by a team of artisans who treat every piece as a one-off.
“Every palace window was built to look out and, in doing so, to be looked at.”
Crafted with Window & Dome
Every surface of Kesar Mahal has been carved, painted or detailed by hand. Here is what to look for.
Tiers of Jharokhas
Rows of tiny arched windows with domed canopies are carved around the body, each outlined by hand in gold tone, like a palace facade in miniature.
The Open Arch
A large, cusped arch is left smooth and bare at the centre, outlined in gold tone. It gives the busy carving a place to rest and lets the colour speak.
Gold-Tone Bands
A bright gold-tone band wraps the body between the upper and lower tiers, and a fine gold line edges the lid, catching the light as the piece is turned.
The Dome Lid
The domed lid is covered in hand-pressed dots, with gold-tone ribs rising to a dotted knob, like the roof of a palace pavilion.
Made to Be Displayed
Kesar Mahal is a pure display showpiece. Its deep saffron-orange finish glows in daylight and in warm evening light, and it looks complete from every angle.
3 to 4 Months
& 8 to 10 Artisans
This is not a standard design and it was never made on a production line. Each stage is done by hand, and each stage waits for the one before it to settle, which is why one piece takes months rather than days.

Caring for Your Showpiece
Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth or brush.
Do not wash or soak. Keep water away from the painted surface.
Avoid long hours of direct sunlight, which can fade painted colours.
Keep away from sprays, chemicals and abrasive cleaners.
Lift the body with both hands, and do not carry the piece by the lid knob alone. Keep the original packing if you plan to move or gift it later.
