The Idea Behind It
The jharokha, the carved, canopied window, gives Rajasthan's palaces their unmistakable face, and Jaipur's Hawa Mahal is among its best-known examples. Its colour is just as telling: kesariya, the saffron-orange associated with sunrise, courage and the proud heritage of Rajput Rajasthan.
Tiers of tiny arched jharokhas carved around the body and outlined in gold tone, a bold gold band, a large open arch left smooth at the centre, and a dotted palace dome.
Every palace window was built to look out and, in doing so, to be looked at.

Every Surface, By Hand
Tiers of Jharokhas
Rows of tiny arched windows with domed canopies are carved around the body, each outlined by hand in gold tone, like a palace facade in miniature.
The Open Arch
A large, cusped arch is left smooth and bare at the centre, outlined in gold tone. It gives the busy carving a place to rest and lets the colour speak.
Gold-Tone Bands
A bright gold-tone band wraps the body between the upper and lower tiers, and a fine gold line edges the lid, catching the light as the piece is turned.
The Dotted Dome
The domed lid is covered in hand-pressed dots, with gold-tone ribs rising to a dotted knob, like the roof of a palace pavilion.
Made to Be Displayed
A pure display showpiece. Its deep saffron-orange finish glows in daylight and in warm evening light, and it looks complete from every angle.
Where It Belongs
Kesar Mahal is a display piece, made to be seen. It works wherever you want one object that holds the room: at home, at work and in the spaces you welcome guests.
At Home
Entrance & Console
Set it where guests first walk in, against a plain wall under warm light, so the carved tiers throw soft shadows.
Living Room & Showcase
Centrepiece of a side table, mantel or glass showcase, styled with white walls, dark wood, brass and teal accents.
Dining, Study & Bedroom
On a sideboard, bookshelf or dresser, away from kitchen steam and damp.
At the Office
Reception & Lounge
A single hero object on the reception desk or lounge table that tells visitors your space values craft.
Director's Cabin & Boardroom
A quiet statement on a credenza or shelf behind the desk, a conversation starter for clients.
Corporate Gifting
A rare, one-of-one piece for milestones, awards and international clients, with a story attached.
Other Places
Hotels & Restaurants
For a lobby console, lounge or fine-dining entrance, where one handcrafted piece sets the tone.
Boutiques & Galleries
A display piece for a curated counter, window or gallery shelf, best lit from the side.
Gifts & Occasions
Housewarmings, weddings, Diwali and festive gifting, or a friend abroad who admires Indian craft.

Kesar Mahal is the boldest of the four. One piece on dark wood or a neutral wall is enough to set the tone for the whole space.
Living With Kesar Mahal
Six simple steps to place, light and look after your piece.
Unpack with both hands
The body and lid are packed separately. Lift the body from underneath with both hands, never by the lid or knob, and keep the original packing.
Choose a steady spot
A flat, stable surface at or near eye level, away from table edges, damp areas and reach of children or pets. Best: against a plain wall under warm light, so the carved tiers throw soft shadows.
Give it the right light
Daylight from a window or a warm spotlight, so the saffron colour glows and the gold-tone lines catch the light. Avoid long hours of direct sun, which can fade painted colours.
Style it simply
Leave space around it and let it be the one statement piece. It pairs well with white walls, dark wood, brass and teal accents.
Lid on or beside
The lid lifts off by its knob. Display it closed, or rest it beside the body to show the finish of the piece.
Keep it display-only
It is a showpiece, not a container: do not use it for food, liquids, candles or plants. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth.
Months of Handwork
Not a standard design and never made on a production line. Each stage is done by hand, and each waits for the one before it to settle.
