The Idea Behind It
In the palaces and havelis of Rajasthan, arched niches framed painted peacocks on walls, ceilings and miniature paintings. The peacock is India's national bird, a symbol of beauty, grace and the joy of the monsoon, and in tradition it is linked with Lord Krishna's peacock feather.
A carved palace arch washed in fresh green frames a peacock with its tail fully fanned, with blue peacocks at its base, floral borders in the spirit of Indian miniature painting, and a lotus-petal lid.
A palace is remembered not for its walls, but for the beauty that dances within them.

Every Surface, By Hand
The Peacock Arch
A carved palace arch, outlined in gold tone and washed in fresh green, frames a peacock with its tail fully fanned, with a pair of blue peacocks standing at its base.
Gold-Traced Niches
Raised, arched niches run around the body, each traced in gold tone, like the windows and alcoves of a Rajasthani haveli.
Floral Borders
Pink and red blossoms, green leafy vines and a wavy pink border are drawn freehand, in the spirit of Indian miniature painting.
The Lotus-Petal Lid
The lid is painted with a ring of lotus-petal motifs in yellow, red and green, finished with a hand-textured knob that echoes a tiled palace dome.
Made to Be Displayed
A pure display showpiece. Its ivory-cream finish and butter-yellow interior are considered as carefully as its outside, so it looks complete from every angle.
Where It Belongs
Mayur Mahal is a display piece, made to be seen. It works wherever you want one object that holds the room: at home, at work and in the spaces you welcome guests.
At Home
Entrance & Console
Set it where guests first walk in, where daylight reaches it, so the peacock green and blue stand out.
Living Room & Showcase
Centrepiece of a side table, mantel or glass showcase, styled with brass, jade green, indigo and handloom textiles.
Dining, Study & Bedroom
On a sideboard, bookshelf or dresser, away from kitchen steam and damp.
At the Office
Reception & Lounge
A single hero object on the reception desk or lounge table that tells visitors your space values craft.
Director's Cabin & Boardroom
A quiet statement on a credenza or shelf behind the desk, a conversation starter for clients.
Corporate Gifting
A rare, one-of-one piece for milestones, awards and international clients, with a story attached.
Other Places
Hotels & Restaurants
For a lobby console, lounge or fine-dining entrance, where one handcrafted piece sets the tone.
Boutiques & Galleries
A display piece for a curated counter, window or gallery shelf, best lit from the side.
Gifts & Occasions
Housewarmings, weddings, Diwali and festive gifting, or a friend abroad who admires Indian craft.

Mayur Mahal rewards a calm backdrop. Give the peacock arch some empty space around it, against cream, teal or maroon, and it becomes the focal point of the room.
Living With Mayur Mahal
Six simple steps to place, light and look after your piece.
Unpack with both hands
The body and lid are packed separately. Lift the body from underneath with both hands, never by the lid or knob, and keep the original packing.
Choose a steady spot
A flat, stable surface at or near eye level, away from table edges, damp areas and reach of children or pets. Best: where daylight reaches it, so the peacock green and blue stand out.
Give it the right light
Daylight from a window or a warm spotlight, so the green, blue and gold-tone colours come alive. Avoid long hours of direct sun, which can fade painted colours.
Style it simply
Leave space around it and let it be the one statement piece. It pairs well with brass, jade green, indigo and handloom textiles.
Lid on or beside
The lid lifts off by its knob. Display it closed, or rest it beside the body to show the finish of the piece.
Keep it display-only
It is a showpiece, not a container: do not use it for food, liquids, candles or plants. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth.
Months of Handwork
Not a standard design and never made on a production line. Each stage is done by hand, and each waits for the one before it to settle.
