Dhani Batti

The Village Flame

A terracotta clay vessel carved with tribal sun symbols and mirror-work — carrying the desert folk traditions of Rajasthan’s villages, not its palaces.

The Story

Beyond the Palace Walls

Beyond Jaipur’s fort walls lies a different Rajasthan — the Banjara and Kalbeliya villages of the Thar desert, where craft is shaped not by royal patronage, but by generations of nomadic hands working with clay, mirror, and thread.

Sun symbols protect the home. Mirror-work catches light and wards off the evil eye. Cactus motifs mark the desert itself — sparse, resilient, alive. Every Dhani — village settlement — carries these symbols on its walls, its pottery, its doorways.

Dhani Batti is Noir Jaipur’s tribute to that other Rajasthan — the one built not in marble, but in earth, sun, and the steady hands of the desert.

“Royal courts have their candles. The desert has always had its own light.”

The Vessel

Earth, Mirror, and Sun

Sculpted in warm terracotta clay with hand-carved tribal motifs and a genuine mirror-work border — earthy, tactile, and entirely unlike anything else in the collection.

Tribal Sun Motifs
Carved sun symbols flank the central panel — an ancient Rajput-Banjara symbol of protection, still painted on village doorways across the Thar desert today

Genuine Mirror-Work Border
Small inlaid mirror discs ring the central monogram panel — sourced from traditional shisha embroidery artisans, catching candlelight as it burns

Carved Cactus Detailing
Desert cactus motifs are etched at the base — a quiet nod to the resilient flora of the Thar, alongside geometric triangle and diamond patterns

Simple Domed Lid
A smooth terracotta dome topped with a turned wooden-style finial — restrained, unlike the jewelled domes elsewhere in the Noir Jaipur collection

Authentic Terracotta Clay Tone
The warm rust-clay finish is matched to genuine unglazed Rajasthani pottery — the same clay used in village water pots for centuries

The Fragrance

Wild Neem &
Desert Bloom

Signature Fragrance · Dhani Batti

A fragrance that smells like the desert after rain. Opens with green neem leaf and wild herbs gathered along village paths. Blooms into a rare desert flower accord — sparse, slightly sweet, never overdone. Settles into warm sandalwood and dry grass, like sun-baked earth cooling at dusk.
