A “darbar” was never one room — it was an entire kingdom assembled in a single hall. The Maharaja seated. Generals standing. Musicians, courtiers, elephants, and visiting nobles, every figure arranged exactly as protocol demanded.
Raj Darbar attempts something no other piece in our collection does — to carve that entire scene, every figure, every elephant, every domed tier of the palace above, onto a single vessel.
This is the piece we are proudest of. Fourteen hours of hand-finishing work go into every single one before it ever holds a flame.
The Vessel
Fourteen Hours, One Vessel
The most labour-intensive piece we make — a multi-tier palace dome rising above a full-relief carving of the entire royal court in procession.
A complete domed superstructure rises from the lid — chhatris, balconies, and an arched colonnade gallery stacked in three distinct architectural tiers
Two solid gold elephants flank the very peak of the dome, facing outward — the highest seat of honour on the entire vessel
Carved across the entire body: the Maharaja in his palanquin, mounted elephants, standing courtiers, and ceremonial attendants — every figure individually sculpted
Four miniature jharokha balconies project outward from the dome’s base — a feature unique to Raj Darbar within the entire collection
The most time-intensive vessel we craft — every figure, dome, and balcony individually finished before the candle is poured

Deepens into rich oud and aged saddle leather, drawing on the scent of royal stables and ceremonial armour. Settles into a long, smoky base of dark amber and oud wood that can take hours to fully unfold.
