The Story
A Palace Built for Watching, Unseen
In 1799, Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh built a palace so the royal women of the zenana could observe everyday street life in the bazaar below — without ever being seen themselves.
The result was Hawa Mahal — the Palace of Winds. A five-storey honeycomb facade of 953 small carved windows, or jharokhas, each one a tiny stone screen designed to let in cool breeze and dappled light while concealing whoever stood behind it.
Today it remains Jaipur’s most photographed monument — a structure built not to be entered, but to be looked at from the street, glowing rose-pink at sunrise.
The Vessel
A Thousand Windows, Carved by Hand
Sculpted in dusty rose-pink with antique gold trim — the body wrapped in five precise tiers of miniature jharokha windows, each one individually carved.
Rows of miniature carved windows wrap the entire vessel in five precise tiers, each window individually shaped — mirroring the real honeycomb facade in Jaipur
Each jharokha window has a hollow centre — when the candle burns inside, warm light glows through every single window, recreating Hawa Mahal lit at dusk
The lid rises into a domed jali screen with a gold finial at the crown — a smaller echo of the same perforated lattice technique used across the vessel body
A raised Mughal arch frames the Noir Jaipur monogram at the centre — bordered in antique gold and set apart from the surrounding windows
The dusty rose-pink finish is matched precisely to the sandstone of Jaipur’s old city walls — the exact colour the Maharaja chose to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876
The Fragrance
Rose Petal &
Desert Wind
Signature Fragrance · Hawa Mahal
A fragrance as airy as the palace itself. Opens with sparkling pink grapefruit and a cool gust of mineral-fresh desert wind. Blooms into a full heart of Indian rose petals — the same roses grown in the gardens behind the jharokha screens. Settles into a soft, powdery base of white musk and sandalwood that feels like late afternoon sun on warm stone.
Pink Grapefruit · Mineral Wind Accord
Indian Rose Petal · Soft Jasmine
White Musk · Sandalwood · Powder
Rose Petal & Desert Wind is the gentlest fragrance in the Noir Jaipur collection — fresh enough for daytime, romantic enough for evenings. Scent strength: Medium. Burn time: 50–55 hours.

After the Candle
A Window That Never Closes
