A Procession Preserved in Craft

For centuries, elephants have held a powerful place in India’s royal and ceremonial traditions. Decorated with textiles, colour and ornament, they became symbols of celebration, strength and grandeur. Virasat Mahal captures that visual language in miniature. Its ivory body is wrapped in a detailed procession of elephants, royal riders and courtly figures, while the palace-like lid rises above the vessel like a small architectural skyline. Rather than recreating one historic monument, Virasat Mahal celebrates a broader Indian heritage — the artistry of procession, palace life, ceremonial design and the craftsmanship passed from one generation to another. |

A continuous bas-relief procession encircles the vessel, with elephants, riders and courtly figures brought to life through fine miniature detailing.
